Training New Lineworkers is Vital to Our Future
The purpose of this program is to:
- To encourage technical training for graduating high school seniors.
- To educate youth about careers in their own communities.

To create an incentive for trained lineworkers to seek employment in WPPI Energy member utilities.
- To provide WPPI Energy member municipal utilities with a pool of trained lineworkers.
Eligibility guidelines:
- High school seniors may apply for the $1,000 scholarship.
- The student should be planning to attend in an Electrical Power Distribution program at Wisconsin Technical Colleges that offer courses.
- A letter of recommendation is requested from a teacher, counselor or employer that addresses the applicant’s skills that are pertinent to the job (ex. manually dexterous; in good physical condition; willing to work at all heights and in all weather; able to comprehend and follow written instructions; safety conscious).
Please note - This scholarship is awarded in two equal payments. One half of the scholarship is awarded with proof of enrollment for the first semester, and the remainder is awarded with proof of registration for the second semester.
This scholarship has been awarded for this year. Applications for the next school year will be available beginning in January 2009 in the Guidance Office at Waunakee Community High School.
