A cross connection is a direct or a potential arrangement of drinking water piping that is or can be connected to a questionable source. An example is the common garden hose attached to an outside tap also know as a sillcock (without a backflow preventer) with the end of the garden hose submerged into a bucket of detergent. Other examples may be your home’s underground law sprinkling system or water treatment unity. Examples of commercial cross connections may be found on carbonated beverage equipment, boilers and process equipment.
In order to maintain a safe and dependable drinking water supply we sometimes need to make requirements for improvements to our customer’s internal plumbing. We ask that all our customers help us protect our drinking water supply by participating in the cross connection control program and the upcoming Waunakee Utilities efforts to increase the awareness of our cross connections. Thank you for allowing Waunakee Utilities to continue to provide your family with clean and safe drinking water.
If you have any questions about the program or any concerns, please contact Randy Dorn, Water Department Supervisor at 608-849-4107. We want our customers to be informed about their Water Department.
